Soil electrical conductivity measures

By measuring soil electrical conductivity, the state of the soil structure is obtained given different sand and clay content, which impacts different possibilities of moisture and nutrient retention.

Based on the data, precision sampling is performed, and basic fertilization and/or selective sowing are planned.

With measurements, moisture levels and previous measures (such as fertilization with mineral fertilizers) need to be taken into account as they impact the measurement results. Performed measurements in time are essential, for example, after the harvest and before completion of the harvest, and calcite spreading etc.).

Measurements over the entire field are performed with the help of a robot with a contact sensor for electrical conductivity measurements. The robot is light and thus more suitable for the task compared to other conventional machinery as it does not cause compaction of the soil. The latter is essential in cases of no-till farming (minimum tillage and conservation farming).
